Autonomous reactive control for simulated humanoids

چکیده
We present a framework for composing motor controllers into autonomous composite reactive behaviors for bipedal robots and autonomous, physically-simulated humanoids. A key contribution of our composition framework is an explicit model of the “preconditions” under which motor controllers are expected to function properly. Pre-conditions may be determined manually or learned automatically by algorithms based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) learning theory. We demonstrate controller composition and evaluate our composition framework using a family of controllers capable of synthesizing basic actions such as balance, protective stepping when balance is disturbed, protective arm reactions when falling, and multiple ways of regaining an upright stance after a fall.

The Modular Behavioral Environment for Humanoids and other Robots (MoBeE)
To produce even the simplest human-like behaviors, a humanoid robot must be able to see, act, and react, within a tightly integrated behavioral control system. Although there exists a rich body of literature in Computer Vision, Path Planning, and Feedback Control, wherein many critical subproblems are addressed individually, most demonstrable behaviors for humanoid robots do not effectively int...
متن کاملVirtual Humanoids: Let Them Be Autonomous without Losing Control
There have been several efforts to build life-like autonomous creatures in virtual worlds, but only few of them have focused their intentions in presenting human-like autonomous creatures. In this paper we discuss the problem of building autonomous virtual humanoids with goal directed behaviors. We present the decision-making as a process compound of: goal achievement planning, dynamic belief m...
متن کاملImprove the Reactive Power Sharing by Uses to Modify Droop Characteristics in Autonomous Microgrids
Usually, the conventional droop methods is utilized for control of autonomous micro-grids. In islanded micro-grids (MG), due to the effects of mismatch in line impedance, the reactive power can't share by using the conventional droop method. In this paper, a method is proposed to improve reactive power sharing. In this method, the micro-sources are acted with P-w & Q-E droop characteristics, an...
متن کاملWalking in unknown environments - A step towards more autonomy
We present a new approach to autonomous navigation for humanoid robots in previously unknown environments. Our method uses only on-board cameras and does not rely on color coding, textured surfaces or predefined object models. We propose using a reactive approach towards navigation that does not require building an explicit model of the environment. The basic idea of the navigation system is to...
